While travelling through Southeast Asia, Xerjoff founder Sergio Momo came across an ancient statue of the Buddha, carved out of sandalwood. Sandalwood is sacred in many Asian cultures, symbolising purity and divinity, and said to repel negative forces. Struck by the sweetness of the sandalwood, the great cultural significance wrapped up in the statue and the beauty of his encounter with it, he set himself the challenge of capturing the essence of this moment in a scent, and Richwood was born.
