Molecule 01 + Guaiac Wood by Escentric Molecules is a striking exercise in olfactory minimalism, marrying the abstract, velvety warmth of Iso E Super with the deep, smoky richness of natural guaiac wood. This scent is intimate and cocooning, wrapping the wearer in a haze of dry, whisky-like creaminess and a whisper of boozy rum that quickly gives way to a woody, smoky embrace. Modern yet timeless, it appeals to those who crave subtlety and depth, forming an almost invisible aura that draws others near. A fragrance for the curious and the connoisseur, it redefines the skin scent with quiet confidence. Created by Geza Schoen for unisex.

About ESCENTRIC MOLECULES
Escentric Molecules is a well-established privately owned niche fragrance brand with a cult following for almost 20 years. The brand founded by Geza Schoen (Perfume Nose) and Paul White (Creative Director) consists of a relatively small team based in London and Berlin with an entrepreneurial, passionate and creative culture.
Perfumer Geza Schoen has a reputation as a rebel in the fragrance world.
In 2001, disillusioned with the industry’s increasing commercialisation, he resigned his job at fragrance manufacturers, H & R in Paris and moved to London. Here he met designers, Brian Kirkby and Zowie Broach of Boudicca, working with them over several years to create their fiercely individual scent, Wode.
It was in London, in 2006, that he launched Escentric Molecules: Often described as the ‘anti-fragrance fragrance brand’ Escentric Molecules confounded expectations to become an exponential success.
In 2009 he initiated The Beautiful Mind Series, working with outstanding women in different creative fields to construct fragrances dedicated to the power of the female mind. In 2017 he launched Project Renegades with friends and fellow-perfumers, Mark Buxton and Bertrand Duchaufour. Throughout his career Schoen has collaborated on conceptual projects such as Paper Passion, a fragrance with Steidl, Wallpaper* and Karl Lagerfeld; and worked with artists such as Wolfgang Georgsdorf, for whom he made 64 odours for Smeller, an olfactory organ that spectators can play like a piano to make aromascapes. In 2005 he returned to his native Germany where he lives and works in Berlin.
Reviewers praise Molecule 01 + Guaiac Wood for its unique, minimalist character and subtle, skin-hugging presence that feels both modern and timeless. It is especially appreciated by those seeking a fragrance that is intriguing without being overpowering, perfect for close encounters and personal enjoyment.
Pros
Performance excellence: Longevity and projection are moderate, typical for skin scents—lasting several hours with intimate sillage.
Versatile appeal: Works well in both casual and intimate settings, ideal for layering and cooler weather.
Quality composition: Frequently cited for its high-quality, natural-smelling guaiac wood and seamless integration with Iso E Super.
Cons
Specific limitation: The scent is extremely subtle and may be imperceptible to some wearers or in large, crowded spaces.
Situational drawback: Less suitable for those seeking bold projection or a traditional perfume experience.
Comparisons
Similar to classic Molecule 01: Shares the minimalist DNA and skin scent quality, but with added smoky, woody depth from guaiac wood.
Reminds reviewers of niche woody fragrances: The dry, smoky creaminess is often compared to fragrances featuring prominent guaiac or cade, but with a lighter, more synthetic edge from Iso E Super.
Vibe & Emotions
Intimate: Evokes a sense of closeness and subtle seduction, especially in one-on-one settings.
Comforting: Delivers a warm, cocooning feeling, reminiscent of a cozy evening by a fireplace.
Mysterious: The scent’s elusive, morphing nature intrigues both the wearer and those nearby.
