Escentric 05 is a masterful experiment in contemporary perfumery, wrapping the innovative Cashmeran molecule in a vibrant Mediterranean cloak. The fragrance bursts to life with sun-drenched citrus and aromatic herbs, settling into a crisp, resinous woodiness that feels both refreshing and comforting. Its subtle evolution—from zesty brightness to softly musky warmth—creates a scent that’s intriguingly close to the skin, inviting curiosity without demanding attention. Created by Geza Schoen for unisex.

About ESCENTRIC MOLECULES
Escentric Molecules is a well-established privately owned niche fragrance brand with a cult following for almost 20 years. The brand founded by Geza Schoen (Perfume Nose) and Paul White (Creative Director) consists of a relatively small team based in London and Berlin with an entrepreneurial, passionate and creative culture.
Perfumer Geza Schoen has a reputation as a rebel in the fragrance world.
In 2001, disillusioned with the industry’s increasing commercialisation, he resigned his job at fragrance manufacturers, H & R in Paris and moved to London. Here he met designers, Brian Kirkby and Zowie Broach of Boudicca, working with them over several years to create their fiercely individual scent, Wode.
It was in London, in 2006, that he launched Escentric Molecules: Often described as the ‘anti-fragrance fragrance brand’ Escentric Molecules confounded expectations to become an exponential success.
In 2009 he initiated The Beautiful Mind Series, working with outstanding women in different creative fields to construct fragrances dedicated to the power of the female mind. In 2017 he launched Project Renegades with friends and fellow-perfumers, Mark Buxton and Bertrand Duchaufour. Throughout his career Schoen has collaborated on conceptual projects such as Paper Passion, a fragrance with Steidl, Wallpaper* and Karl Lagerfeld; and worked with artists such as Wolfgang Georgsdorf, for whom he made 64 odours for Smeller, an olfactory organ that spectators can play like a piano to make aromascapes. In 2005 he returned to his native Germany where he lives and works in Berlin.
Reviewers are drawn to Escentric 05 for its unique blend of freshness and woodiness, often highlighting its distinction from mainstream summer fragrances. Many appreciate the subtlety and skin-like quality, though some note it may be too understated for those seeking bold projection.
Pros
Performance excellence: Longevity is generally good for a citrus-herbal scent, with moderate projection that stays intimate and engaging.
Versatile appeal: Shines in warm weather and casual settings, appealing to those who prefer modern, non-sweet fragrances.
Quality composition: Praised for the innovative use of Cashmeran, balanced with natural herbs and woods, creating a scent that feels both futuristic and grounded.
Cons
Specific limitation: The fragrance’s subtlety and close-to-skin sillage may be too faint for those who prefer stronger, more noticeable perfumes.
Situational drawback: May lack the traditional sweetness or floral tones some expect from summer scents, potentially limiting its appeal for conventional fragrance lovers.
Comparisons
Similar to other Escentric Molecules creations: Shares the brand’s minimalist, molecule-focused DNA, but stands apart with its Mediterranean herbal-woody twist rather than the musky-woody profiles of earlier releases.
Reminds reviewers of niche citrus-herbal fragrances: Evokes the crispness of Comme des Garçons’ Zagorsk or the resinous freshness of Diptyque Tam Dao, yet remains distinct with its Cashmeran-driven warmth.
Vibe & Emotions
Invigorated: The initial citrus and herbal notes create a sense of freshness and energy, perfect for daytime wear.
Comforted: As the scent dries down, the woody-musky base offers a cocooning, reassuring warmth.
Intrigued: The subtle transitions and unusual composition spark curiosity and conversation, especially among fragrance enthusiasts.
