Escentric 01 by Escentric Molecules is a pioneering, minimalist fragrance that redefines the boundaries of modern perfumery. Built around the revolutionary Iso E Super molecule, it radiates a subtle, velvety woodiness and a musky, skin-like warmth that uniquely adapts to individual chemistry. Accents of pink pepper, lime, incense, orris, and musk give the scent a clean, almost abstract edge, creating an enigmatic aura that often seems to vanish and reappear. Designed to intrigue both wearer and those nearby, its effect is understated yet magnetic. Created by Geza Schoen for unisex.

About ESCENTRIC MOLECULES
Escentric Molecules is a well-established privately owned niche fragrance brand with a cult following for almost 20 years. The brand founded by Geza Schoen (Perfume Nose) and Paul White (Creative Director) consists of a relatively small team based in London and Berlin with an entrepreneurial, passionate and creative culture.
Perfumer Geza Schoen has a reputation as a rebel in the fragrance world.
In 2001, disillusioned with the industry’s increasing commercialisation, he resigned his job at fragrance manufacturers, H & R in Paris and moved to London. Here he met designers, Brian Kirkby and Zowie Broach of Boudicca, working with them over several years to create their fiercely individual scent, Wode.
It was in London, in 2006, that he launched Escentric Molecules: Often described as the ‘anti-fragrance fragrance brand’ Escentric Molecules confounded expectations to become an exponential success.
In 2009 he initiated The Beautiful Mind Series, working with outstanding women in different creative fields to construct fragrances dedicated to the power of the female mind. In 2017 he launched Project Renegades with friends and fellow-perfumers, Mark Buxton and Bertrand Duchaufour. Throughout his career Schoen has collaborated on conceptual projects such as Paper Passion, a fragrance with Steidl, Wallpaper* and Karl Lagerfeld; and worked with artists such as Wolfgang Georgsdorf, for whom he made 64 odours for Smeller, an olfactory organ that spectators can play like a piano to make aromascapes. In 2005 he returned to his native Germany where he lives and works in Berlin.
Reviewers praise Escentric 01 for its innovative minimalist approach, describing it as clean, subtle, and sophisticated, with a scent that mysteriously evolves and sometimes seems to disappear only to reemerge. Its uniqueness and skin-like effect have earned it a devoted following, though some find it elusive or too subtle depending on personal sensitivity.
Pros
Performance excellence: Moderate longevity (4–6 hours) with lingering close-to-skin projection that fascinates by reappearing throughout the day
Versatile appeal: Universally wearable in any setting or season, and layers effortlessly with other fragrances to boost performance or add dimension
Quality composition: Praised for its minimalist structure and the innovative use of Iso E Super, giving it a signature, futuristic effect
Cons
Anosmia limitation: Some users cannot detect the scent due to insensitivity to Iso E Super, making it feel invisible
Projection drawback: Its subtle aura may be too understated for those preferring a more prominent fragrance
Comparisons
Similar to Molecule 01: Both rely on high concentrations of Iso E Super but Escentric 01 is accented with supporting notes for extra dimension
Reminds reviewers of Santal 33 by Le Labo: Shares a woody-velvety character but Escentric 01 is more minimalist and abstract
Vibe & Emotions
Confidence: Evoked when worn as a signature scent due to its unique and enigmatic aura
Intrigue: Experienced when the fragrance vanishes and reappears, sparking curiosity and conversation
Comfort: Felt during quiet moments as the clean, woody-musk base settles close to the skin
