    Christine Nagel

    Switzerland

Christine Nagel, born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1959 to an Italian mother, initially studied medicine before pivoting to organic chemistry and starting her career at Firmenich in research and chromatography, where she honed her scent recognition skills. Mentored by perfumer Michel Almairac, she moved to Italy to build her own fragrance business, securing contracts with brands like Fendi and Versace, and later created iconic scents such as Narciso Rodriguez for Her (with Francis Kurkdjian), Miss Dior Chérie, and numerous Hermès fragrances after becoming the first woman in-house perfumer and Director of Creation there in 2016. Her philosophy emphasizes textured, emotional perfumes that 'force materials' for unexpected olfactory stories, blending technical expertise with artistic freedom.
