Rosendo Mateu, born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1952, began his perfumery career in 1968 after training in Grasse under Marcel Carles, in Geneva with Arturo Jordi Pey, and in Paris with Max Gavary. He spent 45 years at Puig as a leading perfumer, creating fragrances for brands like Nina Ricci, Paco Rabanne, and Carolina Herrera, earning the title of Master Perfumer in 2010. In 2014, he launched his own niche line, Rosendo Mateu Olfactive Expressions, with his son Joan, focusing on high-quality, artistic compositions inspired by culture and nature, before passing away in 2022.
